Responsible Gaming
Gaming should be entertainment, not a way to make money or escape problems. Here is how to keep it that way, and what to do if it stops being fun.
Keep it a game
18+ only
Online gaming is for adults aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, please leave this site.
Set limits before you play
- Decide how much money you can afford to lose before you start, and stop when it is gone.
- Decide how long you will play, and set a timer.
- Only play with money set aside for entertainment, never money for rent, bills or food.
- Don't borrow money to gamble.
Never chase losses
Trying to win back what you have lost usually leads to losing more. The same goes for bonuses: don't bet more than you planned just to reach a turnover target. A bonus is never worth money you can't afford to lose.
Take breaks
Step away regularly. Don't play when you are tired, upset, stressed or after drinking. Gaming should fit around your life, not take it over.
Signs of problem gambling
- Spending more money or time than you intended.
- Hiding your gambling from family or friends.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not playing.
- Borrowing money or selling things to gamble.
- Missing work, study or family time because of gambling.
- Gambling to escape problems or to win back losses.
Keep bonuses in proportion
Turnover-based offers reward you for betting more, so it is easy to lose track. Treat any bonus as a small extra, check your own spending regularly, and walk away when you hit your limit, even if a reward is close.
Get help
If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone, and help is available. Talk to someone you trust, and speak to a doctor, a counsellor or a local support service for gambling problems.
